It’s the end of the year, which means it’s time for lists of all sorts, including the compilation list of things published this year that are eligible for awards.
I have 2 and a half (half because the expected publication date is this year, but it isn’t technically out yet.) short stories eligible this year, and if I read the rules correctly, two flash fictions, because Patreon counts.
In no particular order:
“Earthquake Machine,” about sisters who save their father from a mining accident on Titan can be found in Brave New Girls, Volume 4, edited by Mary Fan and Paige Daniels.
“Evening Chorus,” my decopunk retelling of Hans Christian Andersen’s “The Nightingale” can be found in Grimm, Grit and Gasoline, edited by Rhonda Parrish.
“Groovy,” my first contact story involving magic mushrooms and lava lamps will be found in Space Opera Libretti, edited by Jennifer Lee Rossman and Brian McNett. This is the one that isn’t out yet, but is expected to be this month. I’ll update that link when it’s available to order.
“Forgive Me”, a weird little horror/humor flash fiction that was inspired by the William Carlos Williams’ plum poem and subsequent meme
“Lions and Diamonds and Bears” a flash fiction about a dying circus and a pick pocketing lion are both available for free(!) on my Patreon.
That’s it for 2019 eligibility. The goal for 2020 is to meet or exceed this list.
If you’re still holiday shopping, maybe think about picking up a copy of something? Anthologies make great gifts 😀
